If you consider yourself a legit hip hop fan, especially a fan of the new school hip hop, QuESt is someone you need to become familiar with. You will most certainly need to hurry because QuESt won't be an unheard of artist for much longer after the release of his latest mixtape. The Reason: A Defense Mechanism reminds us of B.o.B's mixtape No Genre. Not so much the same style, but in the way that they are complete mixtapes and so fully resemble a legitimate cohesive album. Like B.o.B, QuEst shows off his ability and versatility with his quick and honest lyrics. The Reason: A Defense Mechanism takes you on a hip hop journey that few up and coming artist have the raw ability to create. QuESt honestly reminds us of the first time we heard the witty lyrics and sick flows of a young Lupe Fiasco. This young emcee is highly intelligent and equally gifted with an amazing feel for hip hop. QuESt has certainly thrown his name in for mixtape of the year. We know it's early, but he is on that level. You can listen to the entire mixtape right here on the booth. We've only had a chance to listen to the entire thing about 15 times but here are a few of our early favorite tracks.
